Medical progress is not feasible without research. In this context, the protection of the rights and welfare of the trial subjects must be safeguarded just as much as the innovation and freedom of the researchers. This is the main task of the Association of Medical Ethics Committees in Germany and its 52 members throughout Germany. As a registered, non-profit association, AKEK is entitled to accept donations. This applies to appropriate donations in kind as well as monetary donations. We will be happy to issue a donation receipt for donations of 200 euros or more. In this case, please inform us of your address (e.g. in the purpose of the bank transfer).

The AKEK discloses the acceptance of donations in its annual report. This will be published on our homepage in the future. Donations from legal entities will be mentioned in the annual report with the name, type and value of the donation, regardless of the amount of the donation. The regulations of data protection law remain unaffected.

In order to preserve the independence and integrity of the Association of Medical Ethics Committees, donations that conflict with the statutory purposes of the Association or the independence of the Association or its members will not be accepted. This applies in particular to donations from pharmaceutical companies, medical device or equipment manufacturers, or other institutions or individuals who may be considered applicants to the members of the Association.
